Hello Xanga World

wow. i wonder who still uses xanga... i've been away from the xanga world for such a long time -not on purpose though- some reason china blacklisted xanga.  

my summer break has ended, actually it ended yesterday, and school starts today! but i'm giving myself an extra day of break and i'm actually flying back a day late.

so- i have a question. what do u do when people (sitting right next to you) pick their nose in public with their fingers- no tissue paper in sight. i'm not just talking about *pick pick* the end, but *DIG DIG* for a good 3-5 minutes. should i tell them that it's gross? that it's bothering me? or do i just try to ignore and avoid contact with them while secretly hoping blood will gush out anytime soon. seriously it seems like they're digging for hidden treasure in their nostrils, and they're not afraid to utilize all 10 shovels of different sizes and lengths. ................... hmmm- maybe there is a get rich overnight secret the rest of the sanitary world doesn't know about.  

I have an eleven year old cousin that looks like a young Harry Potter. The other day during one of those huge family dinners, my aunt told me that these two girls kept looking at my cousin when they were on the MRT (metro railway transit?- the subway in Taiwan). Finally- one of the girls goes up to my cousin and asks "where's your broom?"

My cousin shys away and pretends that he didn't hear them. They keep harrassing him and then he finally says "i forgot it."

my third year in beijing- i finally learned how to brake/stop/slow down on a snowboard. but that didn't prevent me from rolling down the hill. came back with SOREEEE arms and bruises here and there. going to go again next week... muahaha i'm determined to get better!

pharmacology labs are finally over. i hated those. we were forced to be very cruel to animals- but maybe that's to numb us for future purposes. i guess doctors can't freak out everytime they see something unpleasant.

i'm going to start "interning" at the hospital next semester, so that means i'm moving out of the dorms soon. i'll be busy looking for houses and packing/moving. i'm kind of excited but the area around our hospital is ..... scary. very very very undeveloped. outskirts of beijing. every class is going to a different hospital- and the one my class is going to is the oldest, ugliest, and cheapest. but because our hospital is so crappy (structural wise)- our teachers are the strictest and the best because they want change their reputation. also- since our hospital is the cheapest, the poor people in beijing come to this hospital. and we get more hands on action because we dont need to worry about getting sued (unlike other hospitals like the sino-japan friendship hospital. not that i'm planning to do anything i'm not supposed to do- but just in case).   

finals are coming up again. >.< december 25th: pathology presentation and slides exam (ON CHRISTMAS- how sadistic is that). january 4th: preventive medicine. january 10th: pharmacology. january 12th: pathology written exam. january 13th, 14th, or 15th: HOMEEEEEE.

people are complicated. but God is good. and that is enough.

I went to Dalian for my 10-1 holiday. I had been asked multiple times "你听的懂中文吗 (do you understand chinese)" in slow perfectly enunciated Chinese before I even opened my mouth...

I met one of Pu-Yi's(the last emperor) late descendents last year, and as soon as he saw me, he quickly guessed that I was from the "south."I thought that meant that I was from Taiwan... since Taiwan is considered "south," so I told him, "good guess." And then he asked me... "so what part of Vietnam are you from?"

After returning from summer break last fall, my neighbor asked me "how was ure break?" I told her it was great... that I went home. Then she replied "Is Thailand hotter than Beijing?" I say "Thailand?" And she says, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I meant the Philippines."  

I have been volunteering at the church bookstore. One of my fellow bookstore helpers is this other girl from Indonesia, and I told her that I was from Taiwan. Later on, I see my friend walk past the bookstore and I wave... my co-helper loudly yells "SAWADIKA!" (Thai for hello)

Ever since I moved to China..... I have been mistakened as Thai/Filipino/Indonesian/Vietnamese wayyyy too many times. People from my school continually ask me "where are you from?" or "are you SURE you're from Taiwan?" No- I'm not offended at all... because I have been having lots of fun making up stories (and languages).  

Well, midterms are coming up..... and http://www.myheritage.com is my newest source of entertainment (aka distraction from studying). And from this picture... (a picture of me in Dalian- seafood heaven... I shall post more pictures of all the seafood we had when I need another break from studying. Maybe I can get to pictures from Sichuan, Harbin and Green Island too. K, back to the picture- that's me in the bathroom, pointing at the indoor toilet..... a HOLE on the ground)

Maybe some day I'll write about how people think I'm in the dentistry program... but- this was fun! .....(and I still wonder why my name isn't on the honor roll list)

It was good to see a BUer... see how happy I am in that picture? So- in the future, I think more people from BU should come visit me ... for the sake of my happiness  

(and of course, people from RLS and BCS and elsewhere can come visit me too... that will also make me happy happy)

i have NEVER EVER in my life been THIS busy..... physically and mentally. i feel like a busy busy bee (who still has time to update her xanga hahahaha).
